Sound Garden and Geocaches

There’s yet another reason to ride Park City’s Mountain Trails Foundation trail network. A new sound garden was dedicated Aug. 13 on Park City’s McLeod Creek Trail in a beautiful location alongside McLeod Creek — the work of artist Frank Youngman — entitled “Sound Treasures.” The three beautiful metal sculptures provide kids and adults alike a wonderful break to enjoy fascinating sounds and brilliant colors. And with several Geocaches nearby, it’s a great adventure outing for the family.

It is Youngman’s second sound garden in Park City. The first opened several years ago in City Park just south of the skateboard park and has become a popular landmark for locals and visitors alike.

Mountain Trails Foundation Director Carol Potter has been the driving force behind the enhancement of Park City’s trails. Various locations were scouted for the new sound garden before settling on the peaceful location along McLeod Creek. The location is about a half mile from trailheads at either end. The most convenient trailhead is across from the McPolin Farm (white barn), and just follow the trail north and along the creek. There’s also parking at Willow Creek Park on Old Ranch Road. Just follow the trail south.

The sound garden is within a few feet of the McLeod Creek Cache, and just a tenth of a mile from our own Creekside Cache.
